Itineraries
PLANS · 1 to 7 days
Sydney plans by trip length, one to seven days, built around the fare caps, the tide, and letting the weather choose the order.

Plans built around the water and the weather
Sydney has fewer hard closures than most cities on this network, so the plans here are shaped by three other things:
- ⭐ The daily cap. Once you have hit it, every further trip that day is free. That makes a ferry-heavy day cheaper than it looks and rewards doing all your travelling on the same day rather than spreading it.
- ⚠️ The weather decides the order, not the plan. A clear day goes to the harbour and the coast; a wet one goes to the free galleries and the barracks. Every plan below can be reordered on the morning without losing anything.
- ⚠️ The UV. The middle of a summer day is the worst time to be on an exposed clifftop walk and the best time to be indoors. That inverts the usual sightseeing rhythm.

How long you have
- One day — the harbour on foot: Circular Quay, the Rocks, the bridge walk, the Opera House and the Botanic Garden to Mrs Macquarie's Point.
- Two days — add the ferry to Manly and an afternoon on the coast.
- Three days — add Bondi to Coogee on foot, and the free galleries.
- Five days — add the Blue Mountains, and the suburbs where the food is.
- Seven days — add the Royal National Park or the Hunter, and enough time to swim every morning, which is what living here is actually like.
The trips outside the city, with journey times and what your cap does and does not cover, are in Day Trips & Nearby.

⚠️ One scheduling trap
Sunday is the cheap day and the busy day at once. The Sunday cap makes travel almost free, which is why every beach, ferry and walking track is full. Use it, and start early.
This section is being written. The guide above is the section for now. New guides go up three times a week, on Monday, Thursday and Saturday, so this page grows steadily — it is worth looking in again. In the meantime the sixteen sight pages and the plans by trip length are finished, and they are the best place to start.
